Handbook for Tourist Guides: New Edition 2011

WFTGA: 1985-2010 - 25 Years Guiding World Heritage & Culture

This history of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (WFTGA) contains extracts from the WFTGA Handbook for Tourist Guides (1995); Convention Workshops and Lectures (1985-2009); WFTGA Check List for Tourist Guides (2005); WFTGA Guidelines Internetion@l and contributions from WFTGA members around the world.

In 1995, Titina Loizides, President WFTGA edited the first Handbook for Guides, which was the outcome of all the lectures and workshops of the conventions. Since 1995, the convention reports, workshops and lectures have been produced in individual brochures and more recently on CD – all of these are included also in this CD.

As part of the aim of the Federation is to promote high standards of training within the profession of the Tourist Guide we have included the work done by WFTGA International Trainers over the past 25 years. We have also included interviews with Past Presidents and long - term members of the WFTGA who have contributed their own memories and stories.
